Tippety
Twig
Tippety Twig was originally
created in 1989. In those days my
son Daniel, aged two, and myself
had many craft making sessions.
Various playthings appeared, such
as houses, tunnels and puppet
theatres, from cardboard boxes,
puppets from masking tape paper
and paint.
One of these playthings was
Tippety Twig. Following a walk in
the woods, during which we picked
up Lebanese cedar cones, we made
him together - one for his
friend's birthday and one for
Daniel because he liked Tippety
so much.

Puppetry became an ongoing
feature of play in our family
life: when cardboard boxes broke,
behind the sofa was just as good.
My daughter Melody, born in 1991
joined in as soon as she was
able.
Tippety has undergone a big
developmental change in the last
few months (the
Making of Tippety Twig). This
is for my new show (TT and the
Pond story) which will be moving
into theatres at the end of 2005
/ beginning of 2006. I make all
the puppets used myself.

Tippety
Twig Entertainment - the
History
In 1992 Daniel was in his
fifth year and Melody coming to
the end of her first. We had such
fun from puppetry and I decided
to try to take this further. I
had already been involved in
performances with various drama
groups. I liked performance work
very much and I loved puppetry
and so I went to the Little Angel
Theatre and saw some of their
beautiful, wonderful shows. I
then attended several courses in
puppet making with Christopher
Leith, the Little Angels art
director at that time, which
benefitted me greatly.
I had been designing and
performing my own shows for
Daniel and his friends since he
was two years old. Parents and
children had enjoyed them so much
that I had been asked to help at
many children's parties providing
the entertainment.
After courses with Christopher
I began to work more
professionally and advertised my
services locally. In 1994 I first
performed in the Kidz field at
the Glastonbury
Festival which I've been
doing ever since being re-booked
year after year by the organisers
there. Councils, schools and
libraries in London,
Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire,
Somerset and Manchester have used
my services both as a performer
and workshop leader, with both
adults and children.
